When I was invited to photograph the Peramola Run in Spain, I knew right away it was something special. Nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees, the race may not be the largest on the calendar, but it carries a charm and energy that’s unmistakably local and deeply human. My role was to capture the heartbeat of the event at its most emotional points: the anticipation at the start, and the raw, unfiltered triumph at the finish.
The morning of the race, the skies were dark and rain was to be expected. As runners gathered at the start line, I moved through the crowd, capturing the nerves, laughter, and quiet rituals of preparation. It’s a beautiful moment.
Documenting the Peramola Run reminded me why I do what I do. Photography isn’t just about capturing movement, it’s about capturing meaning. And in this small Catalan village, there was plenty of it.
Supported by my wife, and giving her a camera to keep her busy, we managed to capture some very memorable moments.
